Improve Your Screening Process for HIV, STIs, Viral Hepatitis & LTBI
Join Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, President of the American Medical Association (AMA) and a panel of experts who will explore two of the strategies outlined in AMA’s HIV, STIs, Viral Hepatitis and LTBI Routine Screening Toolkit designed for community health centers and emergency departments: sticking to sex-positive, status neutral messaging and streamlining the testing cascade. Panelists include Melissa Sandoval, MD, Internal Medicine Physician, Circle the City; Douglas White, MD, Director of Emergency Department HIV & HCV Screening and Director of Resident Education, Alameda Health System, Highland Hospital; and Jason Zucker, MD, Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician at Columbia University Irving Medical Center; Core Faculty, New York City STD Prevention Training Center. Routine screening and early detection of HIV, STIs, viral hepatitis and latent TB infection are critical for the health of our communities as these infections can have an asymptomatic stage which may prevent individuals from seeking the testing needed. Routinely screening for these infectious diseases can effectively identify these infections creating opportunities for treatment and prevention.
