Advancing Outpatient Antibiotic Stewardship
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) remains an important public health threat, underscoring the critical role of health care personnel in promoting appropriate antibiotic use and implementing effective infection prevention and control (IPC) practices. This webinar will provide an overview of antibiotic use trends and highlight the role that health systems can play in ambulatory care delivery and improving outpatient antibiotic prescribing practices. Participants will learn about updates to CDC’s Core Elements of Outpatient Antibiotic Stewardship Programs and explore practical strategies for implementing the updated guidance within health systems. The webinar will discuss real-world examples, current gaps in outpatient stewardship, and opportunities to strengthen stewardship efforts moving forward. This session is intended for health care and public health professionals interested in advancing outpatient antibiotic stewardship and optimizing outpatient antibiotic use to improve patient outcomes and help combat antimicrobial resistance.
