Tom Hulsey
Tom Hulsey is the Patient Perspectives Associate Editor of AUANews. He is a prostate cancer and heart disease patient, survivor, and now advocate who is actively involved in the community. He currently serves on the boards at Mary Crowley Cancer Research and ZERO Prostate Cancer and as a research advocate at UT Southwestern. He is the past president of the North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition and served as a peer reviewer and mentor seven times for the DOD’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). Tom received the 2019 Lauren Beam Philanthropy Award at New York University and the 2023 Jan Klodner Service Above Self Award. He has authored two books, detailing his journey, how mindset was key, and lessons learned. All book sale proceeds are being donated to philanthropic organizations that are making a positive impact on Humankind. Tom is a graduate of the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, followed by a decades-long career in technology and cyber security. He is a graduate of the FBI Citizens’ Academy, Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Citizen Prosecutor’s Academy, Texas Department of Public Safety Citizen’s Police Academy, and Plano Citizen’s Police Academy, and member of the Plano Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Tom is an 11-time IRONMAN®, personally sponsored by Subaru, and 6-time Mountainman Winter Triathlon finisher, personally sponsored by NordicTrack, and was a professional hockey instructor with the NHL’s Dallas Stars organization. He lives in Dallas, TX with his incredibly supportive wife, Lauren. They have two married children and four grandchildren.

Dr. Prasad is a member of Garden State Urology and serves currently as the director of Genitourinary Surgical Oncology, Vice-Chair of Urology at Morristown Medical Center/Atlantic Health System in New Jersey. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Rutgers-NJMS and a Clinical Assistant Professor in Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Prasad received his undergraduate degree with highest honors from Harvard University, a Masters in Philosophy with distinction from the University of Cambridge, and graduated AOA from the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Prasad completed his residency at the Harvard Program in Urology and an SUO fellowship at the University of Chicago. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and serves as an associate editor or editorial reviewer for nine specialty journals in Urology. He served as the study-wide PI for the ATLAS clinical trial.
