Hallie Prescott, MD, MSc
Dr. Hallie Prescott is an Associate Professor in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan and a staff physician the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. She works clinically in the medical intensive care unit and outpatient pulmonary clinic. She is an internationally recognized expert in sepsis management and outcomes. She serves as co-chair of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines and physician lead for the Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium’s Sepsis Initiative. Her research program on sepsis management and outcomes has been funded by NIH, VA, and AHRQ, and she has authored over 150 publications.

Alexis has been a registered nurse since 2008 working in various areas including multiple areas of critical care, telemetry, bone marrow transplant unit, home hospice, Clinical Documentation Integrity Program, all of which have provided a well-rounded foundation to transition to a new role as a Quality Educator, providing education across the hospital on various topics related to quality performance and patient outcomes. Alexis serves on the sepsis committee at the local and community level and advocates for making it easy to do the right thing.

Jessica Aguilar is the Sepsis Coordinator at John Peter Smith Hospital (JPS) and has been in the sepsis program almost 4 years. She started her healthcare journey in healthcare in 2001 as a Pharmacy Tech, then obtained her EMT, followed by her Paramedic and eventually her BSN. She has been a nurse almost 9 years. Prior to her sepsis role she was a pediatric nurse and worked in the Emergency Department here at JPS.

Dr. Taylor is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on improving patient outcomes and developing innovative practices to promote optimal care for sepsis in both early antibiotic management and post-discharge transition and recovery. She employs her expertise in health services research, pragmatic trials, large datasets, and implementation science to identify and address essential healthcare questions related to quality, value, and equity of care.

Erica Kaufman West, MD, completed her undergraduate degrees at Valparaiso University in Indiana. She received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She finished her Internal Medicine residency and her chief resident year at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She stayed to complete her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the West LA VA/Cedars-Sinai/Olive View-UCLA Medical Center program. She has been working in the Midwest since then, focusing on acute inpatient as well as HIV/HCV outpatient care.
