Evaluating AI in Clinical Practice: A Guide for Physicians
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into clinical practice, physicians must be equipped to critically assess the safety, reliability, and ethical implications of AI-driven tools. This webinar will provide an essential guidance on how to evaluate AI tools, with a special focus on understanding and using AI model cards and exploring what questions to ask vendors to understand how an AI system was developed, trained, tested, and its intended use.
Joshua Lesko, MD
Dr. Joshua Lesko is a board-certified Emergency Physician with a keen interest and expertise in the integration and ethical implications of artificial intelligence in medicine. He currently serves on the American College of Emergency Physicians' (ACEP) Artificial Intelligence Committee, demonstrating his commitment to shaping the responsible adoption of AI in clinical practice. Furthermore, he is an active member of the American Medical Association's (AMA) AI Specialty Society Collaborative. Dr. Lesko brings a rigorous, data-driven approach to evaluating medical technologies. His experience in informatics as a mentor with multiple startup incubators, in the Navy, and with his current physician group, in addition to serving as a physician advisor for performance improvement initiatives further highlights his capacity to critically assess the development, testing, and implementation of new systems. Dr. Lesko's multifaceted experience makes him uniquely qualified to guide physicians in understanding the safety, reliability, and ethical considerations surrounding AI tools in healthcare.

Dr. Ivy Lee is a practicing board-certified dermatologist in Los Angeles, California. She completed her dermatology residency at Georgetown and received her MD from UCSF. She graduated Stanford University with a BS in Biology, BA in Economics and honors in healthcare economic policy. Dr. Lee has extensive experience in implementing and teaching teledermatology and artificial intelligence in diverse settings of academia, public health systems, community practice, and tech start-ups. Dr. Lee recently finished her term as Chair of the Augmented Intelligence Committee within the American Academy of Dermatology and has also previously chaired the Telemedicine Task Force. She leads the Dermatology group in the AI for Health Initiative of the WHO and serves on the AMA Specialty Society AI Collaborative and the FDA Digital Health Network. Ivy advocates for ethical, patient-centered design and impactful implementation of digital health solutions to deliver effective, efficient care to all.
